As the newest members of our ASTCC government, President Randy Phillips and Vice President of Clubs and Finance Marvin Culannay get adjusted to their new roles, the student senate had the opportunity to grant requests for two important events. The first was the request for funding for the annual TCC Lunar New Year Dinner that was held last week by the Asian-American Pacific Islanders club. The funding request came in at 2,000, which went to cover catering, Governor's Mansion tickets, and decorations. The Lunar New Year dinner has a long history, previously led by faculty, then passed down to the Asian-American Pacific Islander's club and Office of Student Engagement. The ASTCC is proud to assist in maintaining this tradition.

Dr. Anne Lyman Music Dept Chair of Choral Activities requested $12,000 in funding to help support a trip to Carnegie Hall in New York City from May 28-June 2. This request for funds, which garnered a 9 yay /2 abstain vote, will support the singers' travel and residency for a once-in-a-lifetime experience, which we think will give Titans the opportunity to show New York what they are capable of!
